On my quest to healthy living and saving the environment(doing my part), I’ve been learning so much. Things that matters in life, why and hows of things and what is my part to make a difference.
WHAT IS GREEN LIVING?
Living Green means making lifestyle decisions and engaging in practices which reduce negative impact on and promote the health of the planet and its creatures. (from Global Ecolabelling Network)
In my own words, its doing things that wont affect our environment negatively. Like living and choosing safe decision that will be beneficial to you and safer to the nature too.
How did i get started and was motivated to do this. Well, I’ve been a lover of nature ever since maybe because i grow up in the village. With all the trees and some animals that we look after when i was young.
One day, few years ago, i read an article that according to statistics, kids on this generation will die before the generation before them. Meaning the kids that are born this age, will die before their parents. This alarmed me, because its about my kids and their future. I care about my kids and i know all of us do. But what can i do to help out, what difference can i make to have a better future for my kids and their family. That made me choose to do something differently.
I started with buying grocery bags and reusable product bags, its better that the reusable ones. Then i open all the covers and check all the plastics that we have. It seems that there’s too many plastics at home. I donated the good ones and decided to throw away all the other ones. But then I said to myself, if i toss it, it will end up in the landfill. So i decided to keep them for my crafts, those tiny things that needs to be organize. Those plastic containers that are not good for food can be useful with that.
Then there’s the reusable feminine pads(yes, back to olden age). I tried it and got my daughter to use it to.
Then I decided (but asked my husband) to stop using the microwave. We’re more than one month free of microwave. It’s hard, needs adjustment but you’ll get use to it. I used other alternative to warm up food. I’ll share it on my other blog post.
Then decided to use organic bamboo toothbrush. Well, i am happy i got all my family to use one.
Also I’ve been using Essential Oils now, to avoid those harmful scents.
Then for moisturizer i discovered lots of natural moisturizer like shea butter and other organic oils.
I’ll share more on my other post.
Living green is better for you and for the environment . And I believed its good for your wallet too.
I think, everyone of us wants to be healthy and we care for the health of our family and their future. So make a decision to make a difference. Choose to live greener. Its a hard task but if we all started to do it, we can make a big difference.
