REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE

  • Reduce
  • Reuse
  • Recycle

They are the “3 R’s” of waste management. They are the guidance suggested to create a sustainable life.

Some people implemented this principle to reduce waste and reduce the amount of waste that goes to the landfill, that can reduce carbon footprints.

For some it may be hard to do, because you need to make a little change in your daily lifestyle.

But for others, deciding to make a change can create a great impact. If you want to contribute to have a healthier planet, you can and will make a step in doing it.

If all people start to seriously think about our present situation regarding how our waste impact the environment, maybe we will do something to change our way of dealing with it for the better future.

Our future depends on what we do today, so taking care of our planet now will make an impact tomorrow.

Personally, base on my experience its hard to do at first. But you have to decide and get to doing it.

We can see, hear and watch it on social media. Most of us know GLOBAL WARMING, CLIMATE CHANGE and LANDFILL, but does it matter to us. Do we care or it doesn’t matter to us.

WE ARE ALL RESIDENT OF THIS WORLD, SO WE MUST CARE.

Now lets talk about the 3 R’s and try to implement it on our daily lives.

THE FIRST R- REDUCE

Reducing is when we cut back on the amount of waste or trash we make. It is simply creating less waste. And of all the 3 R’s, it’s sometimes people pay less attention to, but it is the best method of keeping our earth clean. If we reduce waste, there’s less to reuse or recycle.

Reducing stops the problem at the source. The less waste we make, the less mess to need to clean up.

Ex.: Bringing your own reusable bag when shopping. By doing this you created less trash by not using single use plastic bags.

THE SECOND R- REUSE

Reusing is finding a new way to use something so that you don’t have to throw it away.

Reusing is taking an old item that some people consider throwing away and finding a new use for them. Some people called it repurposing, its the use of something other than its original intended use. Modifying things for a new or different use of for new way of using it.

Ex.: Using old clothes as rags for cleaning the house. Instead of buying paper towels or cleaning rags.

THE 3’RD R – RECYCLE

Recycling is the way of using trash to remake new goods that can be sold or use again. And of all the 3 R’s its the most advertised or heard of.

Recycling is changing old products into new ones so they can be resold or reuse again. Recycling is a way that sometimes we can’t do at home.

Ex.: Recycling starts when you collect recyclable trash like glass, paper, plastic, aluminum. You can drop off recyclable items to recycling depot or collectors gather your materials and take them to processing plants. These materials get sorted, processed then sold to manufacturers or to people who makes new things. These manufacturers make new items , then people buy this new things from recycled materials. And the process starts over again.

WILL YOU CONSIDER DOING YOUR PART?

REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE are ways we can try doing if we do care about our environment and about the future of the next generation.
