When I was younger, I used to be reminded by my mom to take care of my body. That I need to take care of myself, my own body, my own health, that I am the best person that can take care of it.

“Take care of your body, your health. You only have one body, and that is your asset in this life. If that one body gets sick, it will be hard to earn a living. You will depend on someone for help.”

This is the one part of our life that I think we tend to forget to seriously take care of. OUR BODY, OUR HEALTH.

We devote our whole life working and give our full energy to earn a living. But we forget that we don’t live to work, we work to live.

So lets look at the how we can take care of ourselves as we live in this busy world.

  1. Get enough sleep. In our modern time, I think people are lacking sleep. We don’t get enough rest from our busy working lives. Some people even work during night time. And others work 2 or 3 jobs. But still, we are reminded to get enough sleep, find a way to get your body rested. Sleep is not only good for our body, its also good for our mind. We’ll accomplished great things if we have enough sleep.
  2. Exercise your body. Even a little exercise can go along way of reducing stress in life. And you can burn all those fats and excess calories in your body. Exercise can energize and motivate you for the day. So plan to have even a short exercise.
  3. Have a quiet time. A time to meditate and relax. A time to pray and be grateful to God. It can be done anytime of the day but its best in the morning before you start your day. You’ll have a positive view in life and be encourage to move on.
  4. Eat healthy food. Processed foods are advertised anywhere and we’ve all been used to eating them. But its time to be choosy on the foods that we eat. Eat more fruits and vegetables and avoid all those chemicals on food.
  5. Drink plenty of water. Keeping hydrated is very important to our health and well being. But most of us don’t consume enough water. There are many benefits of drinking water, it increases our energy and brain power, flushes out toxins, boots our immune system and so much more.
  6. Unplug from technology. Most people now are attached to smartphones. Their cellphone is the last one they hold at night and the first thing that they grab in the morning. Some people even sleep with them and check them in the middle of the night. It’s seriously not a healthy practice. Leave your electronics alone when its meal time, set a time for using gadgets.
  7. Set a time for rest. We all need to work, but do not work to death. Have a time to relax and have a day off. To rest your body away from the busyness, stress and pressure from work.
  8. Make your day off about you. When its your day off stay away and free your mind from work related matters. And don’t bring home some office work. Day off must be about yourself and your family. Have a time to enjoy and relax with your family. Or volunteer on some organization that you support. Or enjoy your hobby or activities that you love.
  9. Connect with people. Drink a cup of coffee or tea with friends or pick up a phone and call them. Connecting with people will help you get out from the pressure of work and the stress of life.
  10. Keep a Journal. Some people say that writing is therapeutic activity. Through writing you can express yourself, what you feel, what your thoughts are. You can even write your worries and whatever comes to your mind. You can list things that you are grateful for and you can write all your prayer request.

YOUR HEALTH IS YOUR GREATEST WEALTH.

We all wanted to be healthy and live longer. But we must take time to really take care of our body. Don’t neglect your body when there is pain, its a signal that there is something wrong. Pay attention to your own body. Seek help from the health professionals if you need to.

Not only our body that we should take care of. Our mental, emotional and spiritual being should be well taken care off too.
