Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit. (Proverbs 18:21)

Everyone of us have been hurt or encouraged by the word that we’ve heard from someone. Or maybe we’ve break someone or build up someone with what words we say to them.

All of us are guilty, we’ve all done that. It’s really true , it says in the Holy Bible that the tongue is a very small part of our body but its so hard to tame. It can set fire, it can kill and destroy. No one can tame owns tongue. They said that the tongue can be a weapon of mass destruction. It can destroy friendship, ruined marriages, divide families and churches. But it can also brings life to relationship, build up friendship and families and unite people.

It was on my younger years when people say that i have a good voice(not to brag, just citing example here). And I guess that encouraged me to sing always. Those words build me up and pushed me to sing more and develop a God given gift. Do you think i will sing in public if people told me before that i can’t carry a tune. Maybe i will just stick to singing in the washroom(where no one can hear me).

Think for a moment of the time that you say some good words to others. Did your words help them? Now, think of the time that you say words that are negative to others. Did they get hurt?

How about the time that other people say things to you? We’re you happy when they say good things about you? Did you get angry or upset when they say bad things about you?

Sometimes we speak words that doesn’t pertain to any person. But still can affect anyone around us. When we are a person who complains a lot about everything. Do you think people are delighted to hear your complaining all the time.

I know you won’t try to kill someone but have you destroy someone with your words? And for sure you would want to give life to a dying person, and so did you speak words of encouragement to give them life?

WORDS HAVE POWER! Your tongue have a power, you have a power.

Have you ever stop sometimes and think of how powerful your tongue is? Have you use it to encouraged others or to hurt others feelings. When did you stop and think before saying some words to other people.

Now, Let’s check ourselves;

HOW SHARP IS YOUR TONGUE?

HOW ARE YOU USING YOUR WORDS?

DO PEOPLE GET DELIGHTED TO HEAR YOU SPEAK?

ARE YOU A PERSON WHO COMPLAINS ALL THE TIME?

***MAKE YOUR MOUTH A FOUNTAIN OF LIFE***

  • Be slow to speak. Don’t rush into saying your opinions or whats on your mind without thinking first.
  • Encourage more often , that criticize. Find the good in what others do to encourage them.
  • Seek opportunity to speak kind words. Kind and gentle words makes people happy.
  • Speak words of affection to your loved ones always.
  • Says words that are “good for building up” that “gives grace to those who hear”.
  • Say the right words at the right time. Have a keen sense of what to say or do to avoid giving offense (tactful, sensitive)
  • If you’ve said something that is not right, SORRY IS ALWAYS GOOD TO SAY.
  • Don’t be a complain machine. Stop complaining about everything.

These are only few of my tips but i know there’s a lot more. My youngest brother used to say, if you have to say something that wont be beneficial to anyone, just don’t say it. Just keep it to yourself.

NOW THAT YOU KNOW THAT THERE’S A POWER IN YOU, START USING YOUR POWER THE RIGHT WAY. WAY THAT PEOPLE WILL BE BUILD UP AND WAY THAT WILL GLORIFY GOD.
