THINK BEFORE YOU BUY

Have you ever consider the environment when you buy things?

I haven’t for the longest time until just recently when I became aware of our earths situations.

Thinking of the materials used and how a product was made does not really occur to my mind. Also the packaging and the waste it will make after using it.

But is it really important to think twice before we buy things?

We must really practice sustainable shopping. WE should recognize that everything we buy have health, environment and social impact.

I’ve notice that we’ve became really in to things and acquiring more things in life. We want this, and we want that. Often we wanted to let go of things that we have even they are still in good working condition. We want the newest, the latest, and the most popular things.

But I think its time for us to wake up , and think hard enough on what our world is becoming. Our planet, our environment, the earth that we called home.

Let us consider our environment when we are buying any product.

As much as possible reuse or re purposed things that you already have before buying new.

Check what you have first before thinking of purchasing new product.

Buy used stuff, you will save money and avoid heavy packaging and plastic wraps on new products.

Sometimes you can borrow tools or seasonal items from family or friends. Before you buy, see if you can borrow first.

Buy things that will last longer than the cheap and not so durable ones. Consider the life’s expectancy of the item. How long can the item be used and how many times. Invest on products that you can used longer over time.

Choose eco friendly products. Products that can be reused and recycled.

Buy local products to reduce the use of fossil fuels. Purchasing locally means the product has less travel time to get to you. All of the energy that is used to transport products via planes, trucks, and ships contributes to global warming and poor air quality.

Purchase products with less plastic. Single use plastics are pollutants and not good for our health. Its also not good for our environment.

Look for sustainable products. Products that provide environmental, social and economic benefits while protecting public health and environment over their whole life cycle, from the extraction of raw materials until the final disposal. (Wikipedia)

Most of our environmental health problems now stem from toxins that’s being released into our environment from trash. Trash – products that we disposed off, such as in a landfill. Products that we bought, used and thrown away.

So don’t just buy and buy because you have the money. Be a wise purchaser, a responsible consumer.

THE NEXT TIME THAT YOU WILL BE BUYING ANYTHING, CONSIDER OUR ENVIRONMENT, OUR HOME.
