Why I chose to be a stay-at-home mom

There are so many jobs out there but why did I chose to be a stay at home mom.

Some others may think that I am lazy, that I don’t want to work. Or that I am not contributing anything to the society. Or maybe that I wasted what I have studied in college that I could have applied on the workforce.

Or maybe others may say that I made the best decision in my life. That I’m making a big sacrifice to take care of my kids, day in and day out.

Every person have their own opinions and we all have our own reason on things we choose in life.

And I have my own reason why I chose to be just a stay at home mom. Not working, not earning but just working at home.

Just a stay-at-home mom, not working. Other people say don’t say “just”a stay-at home-mom because our job at home is not easy.

Financially speaking, I should not stay at home, because we cannot depend only on a single income to pay all our bills.

And because of all the never ending household things to be done, it is better to just go work outside the house.

It’s true, being a stay-at-home mother is not easy, a 24/7 job, day in and day out.

After having our first baby, when maternity leave was done, i went back to work. Me and my husband take turns on taking care of our baby. But when our 2nd baby came, we’ve decided that it’s time to stay at home and take care of our kids.

SO WHAT REALLY CAME OVER ME THAT I DECIDED TO BE A STAY-AT-HOME MOM:

  1. BECAUSE TIME FLIES TOO FAST. I think our little kids needed me the most, while they are still small. I want to be there, whenever they need me. They are just small for a little while, and i don’t want to miss all those moments. I know that they will soon get bigger and go to school and they will be needing me less and less. I’ll be very happy to think that I was there when they’re all little.
  2. BECAUSE MONEY IS NOT EVERYTHING. I know we all need money and its so hard to depend only on my husbands paycheck. We’ve been dealing with paying debts, but I know we can pay them off soon. And I know going back to work is easy if I decided to work again when kids are full time at school. No money can pay the time I spend with my kids, my family.
  3. BECAUSE I AM A MOTHER. I know every mother wants to take care of their own kids. And I admire those moms, who are employ, working outside home and still work at home. My husband and I decided that I will be the one who takes care of our kids instead of sending them to daycare or dayhome. Because the money that I will earn will be just use to pay the daycare. And also because we don’t know whats really going on in the daycare while they are there. There is nothing wrong with sending your kids to daycare or dayhome, but for me, since I am the mother I will be the one to take care of my own kids.

Maybe other mothers have their own reasons. And depending on your situation, there’s nothing wrong if a mother decide to work outside home or to just be a stay-at-home mother. That is why we should never judge a mother on her decision if she choose to stay home or work outside.

It’s hard to choose, its hard to leave your job and the career that you’ve built. That’s why deciding to stay home should be depending on your family situation and what you and your husbands choice.

Sometimes being a stay-at-home mom is hard, tiring. With all the things who have to do inside your house, it seems that task are never ending. But at the end of the day, everything ends well.

Too many roles, but without pay. But there’s nothing compares to being a mother. Cleaning the house, doing laundry, cooking, driving, and many other things to be done. But its all worth it, tiring, but rewarding.

So salute to all the mothers, stay-at-home or working outside home. God bless you all.
