We heard it on the news and read it on papers “CARBON FOOTPRINT”. This term is everywhere and makes me wonder what really is a Carbon Footprint.

CARBON FOOTPRINT is the total amount of greenhouse gases produced and released into the air caused by individuals, group, product or organizations, usually expressed in equivalent tons of carbon dioxide (CO2). The primary event that led to global warming is due to high greenhouse emission or carbon footprint.

There is a profound effect on our environment due to the increasing amount of carbon footprints. Sea level rises as the temperature of our planet increases. Even plants and wildlife and also our human health is at risk of being harm.

So what can we do to reduce our carbon footprint?

  1. Minimize the amount of energy that you waste. Turn off lights, air conditioner and electrical appliances when not in use.
  2. Switch to energy efficient lights and household appliances like washer and dryer.
  3. Shut off water when brushing your teeth and take shorter shower and fix leaking faucet.
  4. Conserve paper by using reusable canvas shopping bags.
  5. Start your own garden or buy locally grown produce.
  6. Minimize driving, walking or biking will help and your body will gain health benefits too.
  7. Recycle as much as possible.
  8. Compost your organic waste.
  9. Minimize buying of new products.
  10. Embrace the minimalist lifestyle.

Now that we know what carbon footprint is and its effect in our planet, its time to do our part. We may not be able to do them all but we can do one for a good start.
Our planet we live in is in danger, all of us needs to change our habits. And care for the future of our generation.

LET’S ALL REDUCE OUR CARBON FOOTPRINT!!!
